Using Adobe Photoshop, I took a personal image taken in Italy of my family and combined it with other images that made the photo become more creative. Incorporating a picture of a butterfly, balloon, someone walking in heels, a sting ray in the ocean, and a new sky makes the image feel more creative and transform the original image into a dreamlike piece. Utilizing the layer mask tool and the brush tool, I was able to seamlessly build in each additional image to the background, making the original image feel altered but also intimate.
The process of combining these additional images into the original was mainly done by the use of the hard and soft brush tools. Using masking, it created each image into the others to make it feel like all of these different images were originally there. These made the images feel embedded with the scene rather than added.
This piece represents how memories can sometimes be shown differently than reality. Imagination and emotion is portrayed through this piece. I aimed to show how some moments throughout life can be reinterpreted through someones imagination. The image not only captures a place, but also emotion.
