Abstract: The Art of Design

One picture that stood out to me was the close up black and white portraits. This is because the subject is clearly staring into the camera. It showed the emotion throughout the subject and what they were feeling at that time. Having the portrait be in black and white made the image feel like the subject was the only thing to focus on. It took away the entire background and left only the subject to be in the portrait. There were no distractions in the portraits, just the subject itself.

Looking at these pictures from Abstract: The Art of Design | Platon,  made me feel emotion in myself. I felt vulnerable from looking at the pictures. It made me capture the emotion they were feeling into the emotion I felt. It made me understand how Platon gets as close to the soul as possible, and also connected me to the picture.

The picture I chose is a picture of me and my family in Italy. Surrounded by bright colors and a beautiful background of the ocean and buildings, the picture has a special meaning to my family. It not only captures the beautiful place we were, but also captures the bond between us. The picture entraps the beauty of the scenery we were in, but also catches how we are together there in that moment. We all present as connected which makes the picture feel more emotional.

This image connects to Platon's idea of connection but in a more personal way than he describes. Instead of having strangers in the photo, I chose to do people who mean more to me. It shows a bond of people who already care about each other with the camera. Looking at this photo gives the emotion of remembering how important memories with loved ones are and to capture and take in all of those moments.
