Calligrame

     The reasoning behind my art piece is to demonstrate growth within my life. It shows a caterpillar from the letter to my younger self ten years ago, to the butterfly made from my letter to myself in ten years from now. It shows the goals I have accomplished in life and the goals I hope to accomplish. Mainly, it shows the growth I have had from being a kid and hopefully more growth I will have as I continue to mature. 

    The main tools I used in this art is the pen tool and the text to pattern tool in adobe illustrator. These helped create a picture like what I had in my mind and be able to put it on paper. 

    The inspiration behind this art piece was portraying how I became my own person and grew into myself. When I think of how much I have already grown as a person, and how much more I have to grow, it makes me think of myself as a caterpillar turning into a butterfly and growing into their real skin.

  I process behind my art piece is to use different tools in photoshop to get the hang of the different material we will be doing. For example, using the brush tool was the main tool I used to create this art piece. Also, using the brackets helped practice making the brush bigger and smaller. Lastly, using layers and the masking tool to create the scratches and shading on around the logo to create a "spray paint" effect. Overall, this piece is meant to be colorful, lively, and practice working on the tools that will be used throughout the course.

For example, using the laso tool is something I think will be used very often to erase things from a picture. The patch tool also seems like something that would be important to use which does a similar thing as the laso tool. Lastly, using layer mask will be important to combine pictures together into one. For example, making copies of layers and then merging them together is a good tool to use incase you need to go back to another layer. This also allows for any mistakes made to the second layer to be able to start over. Learning how to wrap the layer also could be important depending on what projects could be coming during this portion of the course.
